About Candolim Beach
Candolim beach is a part of a long stretch of beach coastline along the
Arabian sea. The beach begins at Aguada fort and ends at Chapora fort. This
is also the birth place of Abba Faria, considered to be one of Goan freedom
fighters and the father of hypnotism.
Candolim beach is one of the quite beaches in Goa. It is still far from the
madding crowds, that are generally found on other beaches. A place where one
can indulge in different water sports and enjoy swimming with sun bath. A
charming destination that mesmerizes every one that visits it.
Major Tourist Attraction
Fort Aguada
Fort Aguada was built in the 1612. The northern side of the fort has two
beaches, one of them is Calangute and the other one is Condolim. It is one
of the most visited spots in Goa. There are many resorts, villas and guest
houses around this fort.
Beach Activities
Fishing is an activity for those who love serene and silent environment.
Yoga & meditation are gaining popularity because of visitors coming from
Osho Rajneesh's ashram in Pune. Water sports like wind surfing, water
skiing, etc are an obvious beach activity here. Candolim's nightlife is very
calm, giving a break from the hustle and bustle of other beaches.
One can also enjoy the delicacies of Goa in the various eating joints
around the beach.
Getting There
Road: Candolim beach is connected well with the rest of the country
by road. One can avail the services of bus and taxi or hire a bike. Buses
stop every twenty minutes at the stand opposite the Casa sea shell. Buses
from Panaji (Panjim) stop frequently in Candolim.
Accommodation
Candolim beach has many hotels and guest houses which offer luxurious stay.
But it is better to stay near some other beaches, since they are too
expensive.
